An unusual and particular event with dance and the music of the renowned bass player Barre Phillips.
The first bass player to make a solo bass cd/record; a master of the bass and one who has influenced (and still does) so many musicians and dancers.
Barre and I played together in many line-ups but most significantly as a duo, performing
all over Europe – also in the States.
Ever since we were first introduced (a few days before our first performance together) it was clear that were understood something deep and direct about how the other worked and performed. Some unique and instant reading of each other´s timing and sense of phrasing…how and where to be onstage, in space and time while making dance and music in the moment.
We dedicated each our arts directly to the mind of the moment, its instant inspiration, bringing with us
each our decades of experience and love for this art-form.
Barre passed away a couple of years ago, so ´the next gig with Barre´ is no longer directly possible.
I never thought i would wish even to dance live to his recorded music…but now the simple wish to do so
is here….so here will be this “Solo for Barre”.
