Dokhuis Galerie presents: Rebet guitarS (AMS)

Charis Konstantinou (guitar and vocals) and Jaap Faber (guitar) play “rebetika” from the 1930s, creating an atmosphere more than 100 years old!
Rebetika is urban folk music from Asia Minor and Greece. It is a type of music that is still popular in Greece and has now also won the hearts of many non-Greeks.
The rebetika that Rebet guitarS play are traditional melodies of various composers who were guitarists themselves. The lyrics deal with love, death, illness, prison, drugs; but almost always with an ironic undertone.
And… of course… there will be food too !
